AREX gears up for CY 2010 PDF Print E-mail
The Association of Regional Executives (AREX) in Region 1 headed by Director Oscar P. Mabalot of the Commission on Population (PopCom) gears up for CY 2010 to implement its flagship programs.

“Notwithstanding the limited resources of AREX, we will continue to level-up its programs and projects for the development of its members and the government employees in the region,” Mabalot said.

AREX members will expect a year-long sports activities to foster camaraderie among the member agencies and its employees.  A special sports and recreation program will be also prepared for the executives to promote healthy lifestyle.  The Sports Development Committee headed by Director Ligaya Miguel of the Department of Education will meet the sports coordinators of the various agencies to map-out their activities for the year.

For the health and wellness program, the association will strengthen its partnership with the Lorma Medical Center in providing quality health services and facilities at a discounted rate for all AREX members and government employees.  The health coordinators of agencies already met to discuss this matter.

And for the first time, AREX will embark on a community outreach to adopt an entire municipality.  According to Assistant Regional Director Corazon Guray of the DILG and Chairperson of the Community Outreach Program, “the outreach program will not be a mere medical-dental mission but it is a program designed to address the most pressing needs of the municipality.”

“We are most excited for the outreach program because of the innovative approach we will undertake to assist the target municipality.  The team led by ARD Guray is now in the process of finalizing the proposal,” Mabalot added.  The outreach project will use the Community Based Monitoring System in identifying the needs of the target municipality.

Other flagship programs of the association include the RDC-AREX Pammadayaw Awards, the AREX website, and the tribute to outgoing executives in the region.  The RDC-AREX Pammadayaw Awards will be conferred during this year’s first meeting of the Regional Development Council on February 24, 2010.
