The Regional Development Council in Region 1 (RDC-1) is all set for the conduct of this year’s State of the Region’s Development Conference (SORDC) on February 24, 2010. The conference aims to present the region’s overall performance including the performance of key sectors of the economy.
The overall performance of the region will be presented by the RDC-1 Chairperson, Governor Deogracias Victor B. Savellano of Ilocos Sur. Savellano’s presentation will focus on the comparison of the 2009 performance vis-a vis the development targets in the 2009 component of the 2004-2010 MTRDP using regional/sectoral impact and outcome indicators.
Sectoral reports on the region’s poverty, economic, social, women and children, environment, governance, and infrastructure situations will also be presented by the Committee Chairpersons. The LGU and NGO contributions to the growth and performance of the various sectors will also be highlighted in the report.
“The SORD will not only present the region’s performance but more importantly, it will present an analysis of the reasons for accomplishments and even non-accomplishments of the targets,” said Director Leonardo N. Quitos, Jr. of the RDC-1 Secretariat. Quitos added that the issues and concerns encountered by the region/sector that significantly affected the overall accomplishment and corresponding actions taken will also be identified.
Development prospects for each sector will also be underscored as the region gears up for 2010 and beyond.
Immediately following the SORDC is the conferment of the RDC-I awards to outstanding individual and institutional performers in the region along monitoring and evaluation, local governance, best practices and LGU-NGO partnership, among others. (RTA)
